Teeth Whitening
What is teeth whitening?
A technique that makes teeth lighter without damaging or wearing them down, through an oxidation process of tooth pigments.
Why do teeth become discolored?
Teeth can become discolored due to several factors:
- Regular consumption of coffee, tea, red wine or foods with high coloring content
- Aging
- Smoking
- Stains from tetracycline or antibiotics during tooth formation
- High fluoride intake
- Systemic diseases during tooth formation
- Devitalized or previously traumatized teeth
What types of whitening are available?
There are two external whitening methods:
At home: using a custom-made tray from the clinic. The gel lasts approximately 4 hours, used daily or alternating days for 7 to 15 days.
In office: gel applied directly on the tooth surface, activated with light, 15-minute sessions.
Both techniques can be complementary for longer-lasting results.
